My alpha Interview Literally..

I had the pleasure of previewing the Steal From the Rich mixtape over the weekend by Naptown artist, alpha.live.  For an up and coming rapper or a major artist, this was definitely a good release.  It is obvious that alpha takes his craft seriously and it is shown throughout the 12-track mixtape.  This was a joint collaboration between alpha and Dope Couture lead designer/producer, CMART.  On top of the preview, I was able to sit down (over the Internet) and ask alpha some questions that tied in his grind so far and the mixtape.. the interview, preview tracks, and download link is available after the jump.

C/o 93 x Revolver Sneaker Party

Hit up this sneaker party a couple of weeks ago. It was hosted by C/o 93 x Revolver. These cats got some pretty dope ideas for social gatherings/party on some real hip-hop stuff. This is the 2nd or 3rd sneaker party they’ve had and from what I hear the competition was the fiercest yet. I’m a budding sneakerhead, so I thought I would go ahead and throw what I had in the mix and see what happens. It ended up being pretty interesting. I’ll explain the rest through pictures and captions. Got a nice surprise @ the end of the entry.

Rock the Bells Show

A couple of weeks ago, I made the trip up to Chi-town to check out the 1st leg of the Rock the Bells tour. This is an awesome hip-hop festival that has been going on for a couple of years now. They started off exclusively with one-day shows in California and have now been traveling for the last couple of years. I’ve been wanting to go and finally had the opportunity this summer. How rewarding it was.. Since this is a music blog, what I decided to do with this one is speak a lil bit on some of the people I was anxious to hear and let you hear a sampling of the atmosphere. Without further ado…

Best of 09′ – Coming and Going

Sorry I left you for so long, but I’m back with another one…
I want to speak on what’s been going on in the 09 so far. A good friend of mine made a good point that 2009 so far is already killing what was done in 2008 for the entire year. I wholeheartedly agree. In 2008, the one-hit wonder/ringtone artist dominated with a catchy song, but no substance whatsoever once you got into their album. So with that in mind, I decided to drop a best of the 1st half of 2009. After that, I want to hit ya’ll with 5 projects I’m looking forward to in the 2nd half. Let’s get it!

Review Day

Alright, I’ve been listening to 4 albums all week to try my hand at the review game. I’ve had a bad habit of listening to something one or two times and let that be my judgement of that piece of work. Well, this is my attempt of being more objective and giving music a chance to grow on me so I can understand where artists are coming from. Here we go!

1st Withdrawal

Welcome to Relapses of a Hip-Hop Junkie! This is a glimpse into the life of a hip-hop junkie. I live and breathe hip-hop all the time. I collect all types of hip-hop music like art, it almost seems like.

Let’s get right into it. It’s been a busy week for hip-hop this week. My next post will have my first reviews. There were some good albums that came out. I’m enjoying the quality of alot of stuff that has been coming out.
